During Pro Bono Week, October 25–30, we’re highlighting something people may not realize about Purpose Built Communities: the support we provide to Community Quarterback Organizations is offered at no cost.
Community Quarterback Organizations take on complex, long-term work. They bring residents, partners, funders, and other stakeholders together around a shared vision for their neighborhood while coordinating efforts across areas like housing, education, economic vitality, and community wellbeing.
They don’t have to do that work alone.
Purpose Built Communities provides Community Quarterback Organizations with ongoing counsel and support tailored to the opportunities and challenges they encounter. That can include one-on-one consulting, specialized expertise and resources, fundraising and policy support, and opportunities to learn from peers across the Purpose Built Network.
The value of that support isn’t simply access to a set of services. It’s having people to call when a challenge arises, expertise to draw on when navigating unfamiliar territory, and a national Network where organizations can learn from others doing similar work in different communities.
And because this support is provided pro bono, Community Quarterback Organizations can access those resources without diverting funding from their neighborhood work.
Ultimately, strengthening local organizations helps strengthen their ability to advance the visions residents have for their neighborhoods. When Community Quarterback Organizations have access to the expertise, relationships, and resources they need, they can remain focused on the long-term work of expanding pathways to opportunity for the people who call their neighborhoods home.
