Purpose Built Communities® is proud to share that our Chief Executive Officer, Carol R. Naughton, has been named to the 2025 Forbes 50 Over 50 list in the “Impact” category—a prestigious recognition that celebrates women whose impact touches every corner of America.
The 2025 Class of 50 Over 50 are trailblazers making their most powerful contributions in the second half of their careers—and we’re thrilled to see Carol among them.
Selected from thousands of nominations, Carol’s inclusion on this list is a testament to her visionary leadership, deep commitment to community impact, and unwavering belief in the power of neighborhood transformation.
Carol has served as CEO of Purpose Built Communities since 2020, after helping launch the organization in 2009. Founded by Warren Buffett, Tom Cousins, and Julian Robertson, Purpose Built Communities partners with local leaders in 14 states to transform neighborhoods through a model that integrates education, housing, wellness, and economic opportunity—what she calls “pathways to prosperity.”
Carol brings 30 years of experience in mixed-income housing development and neighborhood transformation to her role as Purpose Built Communities’ CEO. She previously served as executive director of East Lake Foundation and general counsel and deputy executive director of the Housing Authority of the City of Atlanta.
We’re proud to celebrate this well-deserved honor. Congratulations, Carol!
