What an amazing gathering in Fort Worth! More than 350 people from 49 communities in 47 cities participated in our Sixth Annual Purpose Built Communities Conference. The Renaissance Heights Development Group, our Network Member in Fort Worth, hosted the invitation-only gathering and showed attendees their transformational initiative up close. Our speakers included veteran NBC journalist and author Tom Brokaw; CEO of Teach for America Elisa Villanueva Beard; president of the Center for Social Inclusion Glenn Harris; Reverend Jeffrey Brown, an expert in gang mediation and intervention; and leaders from Purpose Built Communities projects in Fort Worth, Houston, New Orleans, Oakland, Omaha, Charlotte, Birmingham, Orlando, Spartanburg, Atlanta and Columbus. Topics covered included education, housing, community engagement, economic development, the connection between public health and community development, public safety and more.
