After years of hard work and investment, the successes of the East Lake partnership gained national attention. Other communities asked for guidance on how to implement a similar approach, which eventually led to the emergence of our organization, Purpose Built Communities, which has now worked for a decade to help neighborhoods replicate the ideas tested in East Lake.
After working with dozens of communities to implement a holistic model focused on mixed-income housing, cradle-to-college education, and community health and wellness, Purpose Built Communities is looking ahead to leverage the lessons learned, the challenges and the opportunities that exist to inspire broader adoption of a community-led approach.
