Truist Foundation Racial Equity Ambassadors
The Truist Foundation Racial Equity Ambassadors program is an eight-month fellowship program providing the staff of Purpose Built Network Members with tools, trainings, coaching and peer to peer learning centered around racial equity. Purpose Built regards racial equity as both a strategic priority and a core value. We seek to always engage with our collective history to better understand the current context in which we all live. We commit to meaningful short- and long-term action that gets us closer to a society where everyone can exist safely, live fully, thrive infinitely. Supporting Network Members’ own racial equity journeys and leadership practices are important ways we fulfill this mission.

Madison “Matt” Thompson, B.S. (Northeastern) has worked for over 30 years in the areas of conflict resolution, community outreach, diversity, and cultural competency. He has worked with large regional banking institutions, higher education institutions, major teaching hospitals, and community non-profit agencies. He delivers public and client workshops regularly as an IISC trainer and is regularly involved in IISC consulting engagements – often with a racial equity focus.

April Callen

For over a decade, April has analyzed popular media and communications, policy, and culture to identify necessary interventions and opportunities to tell new, more affirming stories about Black people and other people of the global majority. April’s practice helps advocates foster deeper understandings of equity and justice across race, gender, and class, and apply those lessons in purposeful and engaging ways. She holds a BA in communications and rhetoric studies from Oglethorpe University and an MA in media, culture, and society from DePaul University.
